Milk fever or puerperal paresis is the disorder in the balance of minerals that appears in the cow and other females after parturition, due to the demands of milk production, which reduces the levels of calcium and magnesium in the blood. Many of the signs are also produced by phosphorus deficiency, presenting the postpartum paresis. Low calcium (hypocalcemia) is accompanied by muscle paralysis, both of the striated and smooth muscles. Calcio-Ton has the adequate levels of calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and dextrose, to make up for the lack of these elements, to prevent milk fever, acetonemia, osteomalasia, eclampsia and hypocalcemia.
